In the penultimate round of World Rapid 2019, Alireza Firouzja (FID, 2614) faced Hao Wang (CHN, 2748). The game eventually liquidated into an opposite color bishop and knight endgame. Firouzja kept maneuvering and waited for the right time to exchange the knights.

The resultant opposite color bishop endgame was equal, however due to time pressure, Hao made some inaccurate moves which gave a chance for Firouzja to seize the opportunity to score an important victory to keep his medal hopes alive.
