– All quotes are spoken in Assyrian. A language that evolved from Aramaic and Akkadian – the official languages spoken in the Neo-Assyrian empire during the reign of Ashurbanipal.
– Some quotes have been edited for clarity by omitting lacunas and/or other parts that obscure the message.
– Ashurbanipal’s age is based on a birth date in 685 BC as suggested by Irving Finkel in his book The Cyrus Cylinder: The Great Persian Edict from Babylon.
