In this last part of #Birch_reduction we had analyzed the #reduction_of_alkynes where after reduction #alkynes produces #trans alkene as product. The addition of two hydrogen across the unsaturation will be #anti_addition.


Here we also had compared reduction of #alkynes with #Lindlar's_catalyst and #P2_catalyst i.e. #Nickel_boride (#NiB2). Here both #Lindlar's_catalyst and #P2_catalyst produces #cis_alkenes as product. #Lindlar's_catalyst and #P2_catalyst both are poisoned with species like #Lead (#PbO2) and #Boride so that the reaction is not furthered proceed to #alkane.


Also reduction of #alkynes with #H2/Pt is taken where #alkane as product is generated.
