Migrationshintergrund - Deutscher Vordergrund | Seyran Ates | TEDxRWTHAachen

Описание к видео Migrationshintergrund - Deutscher Vordergrund | Seyran Ates | TEDxRWTHAachen

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In her talk, Seyran Ates explains how being a liberal muslim woman still makes you stand out in German society today. Through anecdotes stemming from her own experience, Mrs Ates illustrates how prejudice and misconceptions are still very much present in everyday life - and what negative impact they have on the victims.

Seyran Ateş is a German lawyer and Muslim feminist born in Istanbul. She has practiced law since 1997, specializing in criminal law and family law. Her views, highly critical of an immigrant Muslim society that is often more conservative than its counterpart in Turkey, have put her at risk.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
