Fascinating Rhythm (George Gershwin)
played by Ben Selvin's Orchestra
Apex 8296 (Canadian) 78rpm record

Surprisingly, Johnson & Shirley in “American Dance Bands on Record and Film 1915 – 1942” do NOT mention this record. They do, however, mention the record APEX 8265 recorded in September 1924. Furthermore, according to Steven C. Barr’s “The Almost Complete 78 rpm Record Dating Guide [II]”, APEX 8296 was recorded in approximately January 1925.

Johnson & Shirley does, however, mention much of the following personnel recording for a Selvin band recording in December 1924. So this is my educated guess as to who is probably playing on this recording:

Ben Selvin (violin and director); Earl Oliver, Hymie Farberman (trumpets); Sammy Lewis (trombone); possibly Arnold Brilhart, Larry Abbott, and Lucien Smith (clarinet, soprano sax, alto sax, and tenor sax); Lou Cobey (piano); John Cali or possibly Harry Reser (banjo); Gus or John Hellenberg (brass bass); Milton Sands (drums); Bill Perry (arranger).

Annoyingly, Brian Rust's discography doesn't mention this record either.

I didn’t use any noise management in this track because I thought it sounded ok without it.
