Dragon Fruit Flower (Ecuador Palora)

Check it out… Our 2 year old Ecuador Palora Dragon Fruit plant put out its first flower. We are very excited and wanted to capture the flowers’ debut.

Dragon fruit flowers are typically huge over 12 inches wide and stunningly beautiful, however, they usually just last for the night… for one single night the grace the garden with their presence, then wither away and if your lucky leaving behind a Dragon Fruit to grow in it’s place.

We planted this plant from seed from a store bought fruit just 2 years ago… some websites say it takes up to 5 years to get a fruit, but in general, I think that after the first year, once you have one year old branches, those are the ones that bear flowers and subsequently fruit.
