Thomas F. Rosenbaum (President, California Institute of Technology) gives the opening remarks at the Bryson Symposium on Climate and Energy Policy.


The Bryson Symposium on Climate and Energy Policy drew on the diverse experiences of several California leaders to explore how new research and innovations in both public policy and scientific research are contributing to the mitigation of climate change.

The Symposium was held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the California Institute of Technology. Speakers included Dallas Burtraw, Ralph Cavanagh, Nathan S. Lewis, Mary Nichols, Ronald O. Nichols, Thomas F. Rosenbaum, Maxine L. Savitz, and Robert B. Weisenmiller.


Thomas F. Rosenbaum is the ninth President of the California Institute of Technology and Professor of Physics. He is an expert on the quantum mechanical nature of materials, conducting research at Bell Laboratories, IBM Watson Research Center, and the University of Chicago, where he served as Vice President for Research and then Provost, before moving to Caltech in 2014. He received his bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in physics from Princeton University. Rosenbaum is an elected fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2010.
