Debian 9 ● Virtual Box Guest Additions ● Errors Solved

We show how to install Linux guest additions for Debian 9 Stretch. This will enable you to work in the guest with different display resolutions, share folders between guest and host and use the clipboard between the guest and the host. We show how to test the installation. To go through the installation you need to install the following packages build-essential and dkms. During the process several errors can happen with the following messages
• Cannot find iso file
• Cannot execute VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
The second is due to execution rights on installation script
Steps to follow for the installation
1. apt-get update
2. Install Development and Header packages
mount Debian/linux installation DVD
apt-get install build-essential dkms
Reboot VM
3. Add VBoxGuestAdditions.iso
boot Guest and cd to /media/cdrom
4. Launch with shell
bash VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
Reboot VM
5. Check that you can change display resolution
6. Add more extensions, shared folder, drag & drop
