People, even if upset, have a tendency to lie about their feelings and say, "I'm fine." Why?

I'm in seventh grade, on the verge of my teenage years. I typically spend my time writing, collaborative writing, or thinking about what I'm going to write next. This topic is dear to me, because I myself am guilty of lying about my feelings. I want to spread awareness of this issue, because, sometimes, it can lead to serious, even life-threatening problems.

The TED-Ed Clubs program supports students in discovering, exploring and presenting their big ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks. In TED-Ed Clubs, students work together to discuss and celebrate creative ideas. Club Leaders receive TED-Ed's flexible curriculum to guide their Members in developing presentation literacy skills to help inspire tomorrow's TED speakers and future leaders.
