When the 1 game showdown between Cibolo Steele and SA Johnson started, Mason Krahn started in right field while Trevor Clark started on the bench. When it over, Clark had the winning hit and Krahn was the winning pitcher as Johnson beat Steele 6-4 to advance to the 6A 2nd round.

The game featured 7 errors, 9 unearned runs, a passed ball, numerous wild pitches, a suicide squeeze and a dropped 3rd strike that led a run. In the end, the Jaguars advanced on.

Krahn scored a run early on but came in to pitch the final 3 1/3 innings of relief to get the win. Clark was on the bench until a double switch occurred because of a pitching change. Johnson got off to a good start with 2 early runs in the 1st while starter Josh Coleman was in control. 8 strikeouts thru 3 2/3 but an error, a hit batter and other mistakes by the Jaguars led to 4 runs, including 2 that scored on wild pitches after Coleman exited.

Krahn came in and kept the Knights at bay and got out of a 2nd and 3rd jam with 1 out in the 5th. In the bottom of the inning, the Jaguars loaded the bases. Ryan Romine's suicide squeeze score a run to tie the game at 4, his 2nd RBI of the night. Then Clark, who hadn't batted in the game, laced a deep fly ball to left that scored 2 to give Johnson the lead and eventual win.

Steele was in the playoffs for the 1st time since 2016 and was trying for their 1st tournament series win since 2013.
