Though it’s had some controversies in the past, Norton is considered to be one of the top antivirus providers by many. Today I'm doing a fully updated Norton review, to see if it still qualifies as one of the best antivirus options out there.

🎯 Norton Antivirus - Ease of use

The interface of the app itself is quite comprehensive with all the scanning options and main tools located right on the dashboard. While this is convenient, it’s a bummer to find out that once you actually click on any tool, you’re redirected to a whole new window. It’s a bit annoying at first, but as long as you close each tab out after using it, it doesn’t affect the experience too much.

In fact, when I compared the Norton 360 app on both macOS and Windows devices, I found that this was the only drawback for both. Each of them came equipped with nearly identical features, though the design was slightly altered. Now mobile devices, on the other hand, are a little different. Since Apple has built-in restrictions, the iOS version lacked a few minor features, while Android was fully functioning.

Independent Norton's review results showed that for both usability and protection, the app managed to score 6 out of 6 points. And with just a tad bit less, performance scored a solid 5.5 out of 6. Definitely a notable outcome, however, I prefer to do my own research before definitively answering the question “Can you trust Norton?” So, I set up my own trial tests on my personal device, to see just how effective the app is at detecting any threats. To do this, I turned off the Real-Time Protection and intentionally planted 10 malicious threats into a folder. Once the bait was ready, I ran a Full Scan and waited. The final results? Norton was actually able to detect all 10 threats that I had placed, with around a 60-70% CPU load.

The Norton VPN proves its quality by using the same modern encryption standard as most competitors on the market. There’s a Kill Switch feature built-in as well, ensuring you’ll only ever be connected while you’re completely protected. Something that I look at when reviewing any VPN is whether or not it has a no-logs policy, which basically guarantees the company isn’t logging any of my personal data. I’m glad to say Norton does have one. Norton has a nice variety of servers to choose from worldwide. I can easily switch servers and country locations, which instantly changes my IP address.

Norton antivirus is already an excellent way to keep your device safe and secure, but the addition of a VPN and Password Manager really covers all your protection bases. Granted, they aren’t the most developed options on the market yet, I am looking forward to watching this security suite grow even more and finally become one single tool for everyone!
