I’ve recently started a new hobby: fish-keeping. When I was younger, my Dad had the same hobby and though I loved watching the fish in our aquariums, I never really had the passion for it. Now I understand why he loves it so much. So many interesting things to learn, and at any time of the day (except when it’s time to clean the tank! 😅), you can have that sense of peace just watching them. So therapeutic!

I learned that it’s good for any fish to have a variety of food and not just the normal pellets. Giving them regular fresh source of protein is highly encouraged. It was hard to find live feed for my tiny fish community tank in my location. Local pet shops only had frozen ones. In my search to find a solution (thank you internet!), I tried hatching my own artemia (baby brine shrimp). Had fun doing this. I will also probably modify my hatching set-up because putting a tube on the side near the bottle neck didn’t reach the sunken eggs and I had to add an additional aerator inside. Will update in a few weeks if my baby brine shrimps have grown.
