STORYLINE:
Six former Mississippi law enforcement officers have been sentenced in state court for their roles in torturing two Black men.

They are already serving federal sentences ranging from about 10 to 40 years.

A Rankin County judge on Wednesday gave the men yearslong state sentences that were shorter than the amount of time in federal prison that they'd already received.

Time served for the state convictions will run at the same time as the federal sentences.

All six white men pleaded guilty to federal charges last August.

They admitted to subjecting the victims to numerous acts of racist torture in 2023 after a neighbor complained that the men were staying in a home with a white woman.
