My homeward journey after an incredible few weeks exploring Thailand, Australia & Singapore. The longest flight I've done to date and the longest low cost flight in the world, with a flight time of 14 hours! London to Singapore is around 12 & a half hours, but Singapore back to London is 14. A very busy flight, boarded to find someone already sat in my seat. To which the crew came to my assistance and moved the gentlemen to where he was supposed to be sitting. Flight time was originally said to be 13 & a half hours. However once on our way we climbed to 34,000ft initially. Just over an hour into the flight I noticed we were turning, rather significantly and on the map we appeared to have changed direction completely. Not long after I'd noticed this the seat belt sign was illuminated and passengers were told due to turbulence please return to your seats, also they said that cabin service would be temporarily stopped. We completed a rather wide circle over Northern Malaysia then headed in a North Easterly direction for a short while before passing through some turbulence. Nothing too bad really, but the fact we'd changed course and done a giant circle, indicated the pilots were clearly quite concerned about something. It had crossed my mind that we were diverting or returning to Singapore for whatever reason... However the flight continued with no mention of why we'd done it. Later on in the flight I was chatting to the crew and asked why we had done that. They explained that the flight deck had been warned of severe turbulence from an aircraft ahead and decided to keep us clear of it while they worked out & negotiated a new route around the bad weather. Very interesting and something I've never experienced before.
As we continued North West we passed through some busy airspace over the Black Sea, managed to get several air to air shots of other aircraft passing. (See if you can recognise some of them!) We also ended our flight with a beautiful sunset just before commencing descent into London Gatwick. A dark, cold evening in London temperature was just 3 degrees, compared to 32 on departure from Singapore. Quite a difference & it was certainly felt. We then parked next to a China Airlines A350 on its second ever visit to Gatwick with the new 4x weekly direct service to Taipei. Very nice surprise to park next to that.

So there you have it. Home sweet home after many adventures on the far side of the world. Another great flight with Norwegian, even if I did think we were diverting elsewhere for a while. But we didn't and made it to Gatwick just about 10 minutes behind schedule. However I had therefore been sat on that plane for 15 hours. So I was certainly ready to get off by the time we had landed.

Thanks for watching!
Happy New Year to you all.
