Born on November 7, 1988 in the Netherlands, Yannick Hiwat started playing the violin at the age of six with Hilde Imandt-Sauter, completing all three classes of the music school Cum Laude. In 2003 he was admitted to the Young Talent Class of the Rotterdam Conservatoire 'codarts' studies classical violin as a student of Thijs Kramer (ex-Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra).
He studied at the Performing Arts School of Music and Dance and graduated Cum Laude in 2007. He continued his studies with Thijs Kramer at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg. In 2009/2010 he interrupted his studies at the request of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban, South Africa to work full-time with them for more than a year. In 2010 he received a scholarship from the KZNPO which allowed him to continue his work with the orchestra part-time in 2010/2011 in combination with his violin study in the Netherlands.
After his classical studies, Yannick completed his jazz violin studies in the class of jazz violin Virtuoso Tim Kliphuis.

Yannick currently works mainly as a soloist and is known for his work with the Re: Freshed Orchestra and his own project the Yannick Hiwat Quartet (s), with both ensembles having participated in many acclaimed concerts. In 2013 Yannick was voted 'Duvel Vibes Soul & Jazz talent', a title awarded to him by Dutch music critics, journalists, bookers and professional musicians. Makes it possible to climb some of the stages of the largest jazz venues in the Netherlands. And was invited to perform for brother of the President of the United States of America Mark Obama during a special concert in the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Yannick plays a highly unique instrument made by the luthier Eric Aceto. The instrument is a six-string instrument that allows it to play as low as F 2 and all the way to the regular violin register. The National Musical Instrument Fund of the Netherlands has also been pleased to provide Yannick with an instrument made by Wilhelm Paul Kunze in 1912 and a bow built by Laszlo Tucsni. Yannick was first violinist of the Netherlands Student Orchestra 2011, was Primarius of the Farfalla String Quartet, first solo violinist of the Youth Orchestra Netherlands, first violinist of the Euregio Youth Orchestra and concertmaster of the Sweelinck Orchestra. Masterclasses followed at; Zach Brock, Daniel Hope, Benjamin Schmid, Oene van Geel, Leonidas Kavakos, Rainer Honeck, Jurgen Schwietering and Violeta Osorhean. He has worked with: Snarky Puppy, Akua Naru, Sandra St. Victor, Sherry Dyanne, Ronan Keating, Sabrina Starke, La Rouge, Renee Flemming, Pan Afrikanz, Phatt, Pete Philly, Zap Mama, Renee Neufville, Tasha's World, Karsu Donmez, City Safari Blue and many others. His broad musical education in many genres has taken him to major concert halls in the Netherlands, Belgium, Mozambique, Suriname, South Africa, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
