Prevent and treat Monstera root rot | save your cuttings!

Описание к видео Prevent and treat Monstera root rot | save your cuttings!

This will be the last video you need to prevent and treat Monstera root rot. Once your plants stem or roots have started to rot you have to act quickly to stop root rot and stem rot from taking over and destroying your cuttings.

When you're water propagating, and your stem is rotting, you need to get the stem out of water. Ideally, only the root needs to be submerged in water. Find a way to elevate your cutting so the stems can stay dry. If the rot is progressing quickly you need to use a sharp clean knife or shears to cut away the rot. At this point, use an anti-fungal / anti-bacterial on the exposed portions of the stem. Sulfur powder is highly effective in reducing the amount of bacteria forming on your stems.

Remember to change your water frequently as well as never mix your healthy cuttings with your rotting Monstera cuttings in the same jar. Pathogens can spread to your healthy plants through the water. If the rot persists, move away from water and try something like sphagnum moss.

When you're finally ready to pot up your plant make sure the stem of the plant is above the soil. You can use a stick to stabilize your plant while your roots establish.
