Singing together, whether in the car or in Carnegie Hall, is one of the best ways to form connections with others. These unique connections have remarkable effects on the lives of group singers, including improved physical and mental health, optimized productivity and academic performance, and deeper social connection and engagement.

I am a student, educator, and musician, and all of these roles have been inspired by passions in my life. Music was my first love and I have performed in numerous choral ensembles throughout my life, including several at ETSU. I am currently finishing my student teaching and I will graduate in May with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, along with an endorsement in middle grades science and math. I plan to continue my education at ETSU and obtain a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
