পৃথিবীর প্রথম ছাত্র আন্দোলন সংঘটিত হয়েছিল চীনে। ১৬০ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে চীনের ইম্পেরিয়াল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা সরকারের কয়েকটি নীতির প্রতিবাদে রাস্তায় নেমেছিল। সেই আন্দোলন ছুঁয়ে গিয়েছিল সাধারণ মানুষকেও। কারাগারে যেতে হয়েছিল ১৭২ জন শিক্ষার্থীকে। এভাবেই ছাত্র আন্দোলনের ইতিহাস দীর্ঘ হতে থাকে। বাংলাদেশের অভ্যুত্থানেও ছাত্র আন্দোলন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রেখেছিল। ১৯৫২ সালের ভাষা আন্দোলনে ভূমিকা রেখেছিল ছাত্র সমাজ। যুগে যুগে ছাত্ররাই অধিকার আদায়ে মাঠে নেমেছে। তারা জয়ী হয়ে ফিরেছে। নয়তো ইতিহাসের পাতায় অমর হয়ে থেকেছে। বাংলাদেশের তেমন কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ছাত্র আন্দোলন নিয়ে আমাদের আজকের আয়োজন—
