In a somber announcement today, the Balti community in Ladakh, mourns the loss of Haji Mohammad Jan, a distinguished poet and cultural icon, who passed away at the age of 99. Originally hailing from Pari Baltistan, Haji Mohammad Jan found his home in Kalsigate, where he became renowned for his literary prowess and unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting the rich Balti cultural heritage.

Throughout his life, Haji Mohammad Jan penned eight volumes of poetry dedicated to Hazrat Imam Hussain and Ahlaebaet AS, showcasing his deep reverence and devotion to his faith. Recognizing his invaluable contributions, the Association of Baltis for Himalaya & Territories of Indus in collaboration with Balti Research and Study Centre Kargil led by President Bashir Ahmad Wafa, convened a Condolence Meeting to honor his memory at Kargil, Ladakh.
