Here's a fun math story I wrote for my 3 - 5th grade math students to help learn and/or review their 6 multiplication facts, while honing their problem solving skills. This video will probably take 2 class periods to complete (don't forget to pause the video for math questions).

ANSWERS:

Chapter 1:

1. 5 x 6 = 30 video games
2. 16 x 6 = 96 video games
3. $63 + $63 + $63 = $189.00

$189.00 – 157.99 = $31.01


Chapter 2:

1. 6 x 2 = 12 yanks
2. 6 x 14 = 84 yanks
3. 2 x 60 = 120 yanks


Chapter 3:

1. 8 X 6 = 48 thief brothers
2. 18 x 6 = 108 wheels
3. 36 x 36 = 216 thief brothers
 
Chapter 4:

1. 9 x 6 = 54 high fives
2. 26 x 6 = 156 high fives
3. 66 ÷ 3 = 22 jumps


Chapter 5:

1. 6 x 3 = 18 ounces
2. 96 x 6 = 576 ounces
3. $1.79 X .26 = $46.54


Chapter 6:

1. 11 X 6 = 66 gumdrops
2. 22 x 6 = 132 gumdrops
3. 22 x 12 ÷ 2 =
264 ÷ 2 = 132 gumdrops
 
Chapter 7:

1. 72 ÷ 6 = 12 cages
2. 510 x 6 = 3,060 right hand fingers
3. 52 + (6 x 2 x 24) (that’s 12 each hour x 24 hours)

52 + (12 x 24)
52 + 288 = 340


Chapter 8:

1. 10 X 6 = 60 candy canes
2. 29 X 6 = 174 candy canes
3. 6 x 12 x 4 = 288 candy canes

Chapter 9:

1. 7 X 6 = 42 days
2. 67 x 6 = 402 days
3. 33,004,800 ÷ 191 = 172,800 seconds
172, 800 ÷ 60 = 2,880 minutes
2,880 ÷ 60 = 48 hours
48÷ 24 = 2 days
 
Chapter 10:

1. 24 ÷ 6 = 4 bells
2. 24 x 66 = 1,584 times
3. 36 sleighs hold 9 thieves, so each sleigh must hold 4 thieves.
Therefore 27 sleighs is 27 x 4
= 108 thieves
