How I Run a Single Sided Safety

The original 1911 has a single sided safety in the format for right handed shooters. In it’s modern form, it is considered the single best thumb-safety ever made for a handgun. And the one that all others are judged against.

But should the user be left handed, need to do weak-handed manipulations to pass a state qual, or be in fact injured; here is how I handle it.

Some of you will disagree with the clearing corners discussion. Just understand I have spent a lot of time doing building searches with 1911s, and this is how I choose to run single sided safeties to solve that particular problem.
