The Canadian woman captured and held by Somali gun-men for 15 months says her story can inspire a younger generation to get involved.

29-year-old Amanda Lindhout spoke to 200 students at a youth leadership conference at Carleton University yesterday.
She told her story of going to Mogadishu in 2008 to be a free-lance journalist.
However that summer she was caputured and held hostage for ransom.
Her family finally raised money for her release in November of 2009.
Lindhout says she's forgiven her captors for the abuse she suffered under them.
Now she's the head of foundation that helps educate women in Somalia.
She says youth must find it in them to give back.

"Volunteer, join an orginization. Create an organization. We all, every one of us here have the power to create real sustainable change in the world not matter where we come from no matter what baggage we have. The world is ours to share"

Organizers of the conference at Carleton say they want to reduce the trend of diminishing voluneerism.
