Ben Affleck steadfastly stands by his decision to end his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, attributing their marriage to a moment of "temporary insanity."

According to In Touch Weekly, the Atlas actor remains resolute in his stance, disregarding Lopez's pleas to reconcile and move back in together.

"J. Lo continues to express optimism about their future, but the situation appears bleak," an insider revealed, noting Lopez's focus on her upcoming tour.

However, Affleck reportedly confided in friends that marrying Lopez was a result of "temporary insanity," but he now sees clearly and is prepared to move forward.

"He perceives the past two years as a surreal experience and has regained his clarity, acknowledging the unfeasibility of their relationship," the insider disclosed.

Expressing regret, the source added, "If there were a legal recourse for divorce based on temporary insanity, he would pursue it," emphasizing the inevitability of their separation.

Speculation about their split arose after a prolonged absence of public appearances together, spanning 47 days. However, they have since made a few joint outings.

Yet, according to the insider, these appearances were primarily aimed at quelling rumors and reassuring their children of their continued prioritization.

Affleck and Lopez, who remarried in 2022 after calling off their engagement nearly two decades prior, had integrated their families, blending Affleck's three children with ex Jennifer Garner and Lopez's twins with ex Marc Anthony.
