iPhone LOG Wedding Footage Test // Can you film a wedding on an iPhone 15 Pro?

I've seen loads of youtube videos showcasing Apple ProRes LOG on the iPhone 15 Pro, but none yet at a wedding, so I thought I'd give it a go and see how it holds up in the real world...

It turned out to be the perfect opportunity to test it as a lot of this wedding happened in very dark places. The ceremony was fairly dark, and the speeches and dancing happened in an absolute black hole (though the speaker was lit with a spotlight).

I tested the main lens (both at 1x and 2x) and the telephoto lens. Didn't bother with the superwide 0.5x as it looks garbage even in good light). Everything was shot in 4k 25fps, with the metre set to -1.0

I've graded the shots with the Color Space transform in Davinci to bring it to Rec709 and I've done some basic contrast tweaks, but haven't tweaked white balance or done any sharpening/noise reduction anywhere.

From this brief experiment, I think the main camera sensor holds up pretty well, but it's not a very attractive frame. The 3x telephoto lens looks decent in good light (like the shot on the bus) but introduces a lot of noise in dark scenarios, which is a shame as this is the lens you'd probably need most on a wedding day. The main lens at 2x, however, seems to hold up better in low light so that could be a good alternative to get you a bit closer to the action.

Ultimately, I reckon this would make for a pretty good C cam, if not for the fact that the file sizes are huge (though you can of course record externally to an SSD).
