After days of hard work moving up and down and building our Simba, we intentionally took a pause — from Friday through Monday — to rest, reflect, and allow the land and the people to breathe.
This rest was important for two reasons. First, the body needed recovery after the physical work of construction. Building a traditional Simba requires strength, patience, and teamwork, and rest is part of the process. Second, some of the builders and family members observe church on Saturday and Sunday, making this break a time to honour faith, worship, and spiritual renewal.
In our culture, rest is not a delay — it is respect. Respect for the body, for faith, and for the journey itself. This quiet period allowed us to reconnect as a family, share meals, tell stories, and simply enjoy being together at shags after the intensity of the build.
This episode captures the calm after the work — a reminder that building a home is not just about walls and mud, but also about balance, belief, and community.
