We had a rare opportunity to tour the largest African slum, the Kibera slum. Our driver, Sam, was born in the slum and lived there until he was 17. On this tour, we met Sam’s boyhood friends and heard him reminisce about his childhood days in Kibera. It was a rough place to grow up, with little or no electricity, running water, or indoor plumbing.
