Mail order is still alive and well in France but they really only want to deal with clients who speak French, live here or have an address or agent here, and of course who pay in euros from a French bank. There are some cheaper catalogues but it's a bit of a crap shoot with them -- a lot of the materials and finishings are inferior, returning the merchandise is at your own expense, and so on. I don't shop or buy often but when I do I want to know where and how the merchandise is made, I want good service, a good return policy, and I find ... it's getting harder and harder to get quality and guarantees, in any country! If you want to buy some new ladies' clothes, I can help you order things from this place. I can be sure you get your size, that you know what you are buying, and that it gets to you safely. I do mark up for profit but it's not at the gouging point.
I've only ordered one thing which went missing from this company, and a trace was done -- someone at La Poste stole it (this is very rare). I was reimbursed -- but it took patience and follow-up, all in French, over several months, in writing. Unfortunately, the nice jacket I wanted was no longer being produced in the atelier, so I never did get that one -- someone at La Poste did. I also bought a pair of shoes from this place and once I saw them, they were not quite to my liking (I think the Queen of England would have liked them, however). No problem! I phoned, advised them I was returning them, and I got not only the credit but the cost of shipping back. Very well made, tasteful color, they did fit, but ... well, I am not the Queen of England.
One other time, they had to backorder some seasonal things I wanted, but they advised me and I said no thanks, please cancel, I cannot wait until next season. It was no problem. Fluent French is required to deal with them, and they don't offer a toll free phone number, that I recall.
This being said, whatever I did buy from them, I still own and am really happy with! (They are good about supplying extra buttons or things up front, also.) Cheap, fun attire is okay, but since I am on a limited budget, I'd rather buy quality items which are a bit more conservative. Which will last for years. Which can be altered as needed, over time. I tried to buy this way in New York, and seldom went wrong. Only the impulse buying of questionable flash was really a waste!
