In 1992 my aunt and uncle in law travelled to the AM General factory to watch their Hummer being built - the last of the original run of civilian Hummers. The VIN on this truck is L1000, the ones in the middle of the range that weren't sold were re-vin'd as 1993s. They told me everyone was trying to get a VIN closest to #1 (Arnold Schwarzenegger's), but they decided to pick the last VIN. They bought the truck directly from AM General - there was no dealer involved.

This video is the 3 VHS tapes they filmed during the production of their truck; and their road trip from Mishawaka IN, to Washington DC, and back to San Diego CA.
