For over 20 years, financial institutions have been subject to requirements on consumer privacy. While the enacted version of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) recognized the comprehensive federal privacy regime to which financial institutions are subject, the limited scope and nature of the GLBA exemption has resulted in many difficult questions about what information is covered by CCPA and how financial institutions should implement CCPA’s requirements.
