In this video, we take a day trip to Mondello beach from Palermo Sicily, one of the best day trips you could take during your trip! We also explored the Capo Gallo Nature Preserve, which had some old bunkers from WW2. This Preserve is a hidden gem of Sicily since almost no tourists were visiting it.

We start in Palermo and have to get over to Mondello beach; it's an easy 30-minute drive if you rent a car. However, since we opted to save money and not rent a car this trip, we had to take a combination of buses, which take about an hour and drop you off directly in front of the beach.

After arriving at the beach, we stroll around the coast admiring the white sand beaches and crystal blue water. Then we met some girls from Switzerland who agreed to watch my bags while we took a quick dip in the water.

Afterward, we went to a restaurant/beach bar called Moritino and ordered a couple of limoncello spritzers and a cheap panini for lunch. We also met a couple from Brazil living in London who recommended checking out the Capo Gallo Nature Preserve.

The Preserve is about 30 minutes from the beach, so after spending about 3 hours on the sand; We bought some gelato and started the trek up the Preserve. There were these bunkers scattered throughout the mountain dating back to world war two. It was super interesting going inside and thinking about what was going on there 80 years ago. Then we met a couple of local Italian bikers who confirmed that the bunkers were from WW2.

After exploring for a bit, we only had about one hour of daylight left before it got dark, so it was time to head back to Palermo. We caught a bus at the perfect time, and even got to enjoy the sunset from the bus window on the ride home
