Driving The Tail Of The Dragon - US 129 Tennessee to North Carolina. Enjoy a full driving tour at normal speed of America's most twisted beast / hell road. With 318 curves in 11 miles, this road has been the reason for hundreds of accidents and dozens being fatal. The turns never stop coming at you. This is a great road if you drive a manual transmission vehicle or ride a motorcycle. Dangerous but fun and very scenic. You're in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains on the Tennessee and North Carolina border. Our drive consists of us driving from the Tennessee side to the North Carolina side where the Dragon ends at Deal's Gap. Once you're on the dragon, there is no getting off of it. There are no intersecting roads as you snake through the mountains for 11 miles.
