Description:
Although its Christian population is very small, Japan has its own Christian history. However, that history was often tragic. In the days of Samurai and Shogun, many Christians were persecuted, tortured and killed, as you can see in the Martin Scorsese’s film “Silence”.

To this day, Japan as a nation, has never accepted Jesus. However Imari Tones, a Christian metal band from Japan, courageously challenges this situation. They have written a Christian song based on Japan’s national anthem.

Japanese National Anthem, called “Kimigayo” is a very mysterious piece of music. While based on Japanese traditional musical elements, its real meaning remains a mystery. Kimigayo basically is a song that praises the Emperor. However there is an urban legend that this is actually a worship song to God.

Imari Tones took this urban legend and went even further.
They turned the national anthem into a Christian heavy metal song.
As if they discovered the hidden secret of Japan, they declare Jesus’ name with this Japanese traditional song. It’s a spiritual revolution for Japanese people, and a bold declaration of their real identity in God.

The days of persecution are no more. But the battle still goes on.
Imari Tones, one of the very few Christian metal bands in Japan, continues this spiritual battle with their heavy metal faith.
