Описание к видео When a cop says "stop", that IS an effort to de-escalate a situation!!

When a cop says "stop", that IS an effort to de-escalate a situation!! When you see and hear a police officer use the verbal command to "stop", that is an effort to de-escalate a situation. If the other person stops doing what ever it is, the situation basically stops right there, peacefully.

Everyone human being on this planet who has ever been in a position of authority, not just police officers, has used the "Use of Force Continuum" in some way.

There is a HUGE misunderstanding among the general public as to what "de-escalation" is, what it even looks like, or how to even get "it". Fueled by main stream media and social media, there is a mistaken belief that "de-escalation" is this one thing that a police officer, or anyone for that matter, can or should say or do that will just make a person and situation simply "de-escalate". That is absolutely false.

There is also a false expectation that when a situation is "de-escalated" that everyone involved is as calm as possible, and being very civil to each other. That is absolutely false!

There is no "one" thing that you can do or say that will guarantee a "De-escalation", it ALWAYS depends on the other person's state of mind and how well they are receiving and engaging with you and your efforts. If they are too intoxicated by drugs/alcohol, or very mentally challenged/disturbed, or have an anger management problem and are just a violent person, or if they are a person with an agenda, they WANT to create chaos and havoc, then pretty much nothing you say or do will make a bit of difference. There are no guarantees, dealing with an agitated, stressed human being is very volatile and very fluid.

When a cop says "stop", that IS an effort to de-escalate.
