Ocean - Joel Frederiksen / Ensemble Phoenix Munich: Requiem for a Pink Moon

Описание к видео Ocean - Joel Frederiksen / Ensemble Phoenix Munich: Requiem for a Pink Moon

Live concert "Requiem for Pink Moon", An Elizabethan Tribute to Nick Drake (1948-74). This is a song that I wrote for Nick, reflecting on some of his themes and on his life. I think of it as going full-circle.... In this program we sing Elizabethan songs, combine and re-define them with or beside Nick's songs, and with this piece I wanted to give back something new.

OCEAN (music and text: Joel Frederiksen, April, 2010)
Refrain:
Crash goes the sound
it’s a wave on the beach
as it breaks the pebbles down
And down the beach walking
I don’t ask the ocean
why it breaks up stones.
I understand the ocean,
the ocean sings a song.

Find me/Bind me
Blind me/Unwind me

Cry me/Sigh me
Fly me/Untie me

And how shall I measure
The wind in my face
Or the feelings I have now

I can’t grow younger
I can’t see the star
You were hanging on when you fell
Refrain

Grow me /Flow me
Sow me /And know me

Bring me /Fling me
Sting me/And sing me

And only time tells you
With lines in your face
And etchings on your brow

That life is a treasure
And life is a song
To live and see the dawn
Refrain
