As we are growing up, we are exposed to numerous forms of advertising on different mediums. Ms. Deeksha Thapa was no exception. Being a girl with a darker skin tone, she had to face many comments and criticisms on daily basis. From a very young age, she knew that her darker skin tone was not considered beautiful, so it was obvious that she wanted to have lighter skin tone. She would always fall for advertisement of fairness creams that presented things or events in unrealistic manner.

Ms. Deeksha remembers herself as a shy and introverted kid who would never initiate a talk with a friend because of her low self-esteem.

In this session of the StoryYellers, Ms. Deeksha shares one incident that completely changed her perception of beauty and darker skin tone.
