Ashtabula Area City Schools Superintendent Lisa Newsome gave an update on Thursday after the roof collapsed at Lakeside High School due to recent winter weather.

During a press conference, Newsome announced that the administration has created a temporary relocation plan.

The roof at Lakeside High School in Saybrook Township partially collapsed over the weekend during lake effect snow. According to National Weather Service estimates, Saybrook has seen more than five feet of snow over the last several days.

According to Newsome, they have hired a contractor to remove all of the snow from the buildings and off of the roofs to bring the students back to face-to-face learning as soon as possible.

We are taking time to do daily inspections and check the roofs from the inside... And making sure our buildings are very safe,” said Newsome.
