The International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti was founded in 2010 by Alessandro De Marchi. Named after the Italian composer Pietro Antonio Cesti, who made Innsbruck a centre of Italian opera north of the Alps in the mid-17th century, the competition is aimed at young singers from all over the world with a special talent and training for the extremely diverse baroque opera genre. In the meantime, the Cesti Competition has become one of the most important singing competitions in this field.

The prizes include engagements at renowned opera houses as well as cash prizes chosen by the jury and the audience.
