A patient came in today to fix a broken implant crown (courtesy of his 6-year-old nephew’s flying kick), but we always evaluate the entire mouth, not just one tooth. While he has space for implants in another area, space alone isn’t enough — we need to confirm the bone quality and bone volume.

Using the CT scan, we evaluate:
• the width of the bone (cheek → palate)
• the height of the bone (sinus → ridge)
• the density and quality of the bone
• proximity to the sinus and anatomical structures

In this case, he would need a major sinus procedure for two implants, but he can receive one implant predictably.

Any dentist placing implants must take a CT scan to measure these details accurately. It’s the only way to ensure the most precise and safest surgery and restoration possible.
