Bottega Veneta’s First Creative Director on an Extraordinary Life - Edward Buchanan | In Fashion

From Cleveland church ladies’ style and studying at Parsons in New York to establishing ready-to-wear at Bottega Veneta in Italy, the Ohio-born designer Buchanan retraces his incredible life in fashion so far.

Interviewed by SHOWstudio’s editor Hetty Mahlich on 18 September 2023, Buchanan discusses his pragmatic approach to design, establishing the innovative knitwear label Sansovino 6, making Milan his home, and talks about being written out of the fashion history books.

As a teacher and co-founder of We Are Made in Italy, Buchanan also touches on the systemic racism which has often written him out of the fashion history books, and advocating for black and brown creatives today.
