If Natalie Wood’s case had been handled with full transparency and justice from the start, the truth might have steered events down a very different path. This fictional film explores that alternate reality.
Natalie Wood’s drowning off Catalina Island in 1981 was initially ruled an accident, but later investigations raised serious questions about Robert Wagner’s follow on statement—delivered at his bedside, shielded by his lawyer. This fictional account presents the stance that the LA PD should have taken from the very beginning.
The cause of death for Natalie Wood was officially changed in 2012 by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office from "accidental drowning" to "drowning and other undetermined factors." This revision acknowledged that some bruises on her body were not consistent with an accidental fall into the water.
The case remains open, but in 2018, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department named Robert Wagner as a “person of interest”, though no charges were filed. Mr Wagner refuses to co-operate with the LA PD.
