Confusion may happen because
слЫшать = to hear, sounds very similar to слУшать = to listen:

СЛЫшать = to hear
СЛУшать = to listen

These two verbs have quite different conjugation. СЛУШАТЬ serves as an example to multiple Russian verbs that end in -АТЬ or -ЯТЬ, while СЛЫШАТЬ is an exception to this rule. So, it’d be much easier to learn them separately.

Start with the verb слУшать,
and then learn the conjugation of ВИДЕТЬ & СЛЫШАТЬ together, because as you will see, they kind of rhyme!
