Описание к видео M-LFD Signal 10 - Gulls Cove Plandome Manor

On Saturday, November 26th, 2011 at 1521 hours, Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Companies 1, 2, 3, and the Ambulance Unit were dispatched to 9 Gulls Cove off Plandome Road in the Village of Plandome Manor. Deputy Chief Farrone (8705) was the first unit on the road and was advised that a call was received through FireCom reporting a possible kitchen fire. EMS Captain Genser was the first unit to arrive on scene in EMS Fly Car 8799 and transmitted a "Signal 10" for heavy fire in the rear of a private dwelling.

Engine 8711 was the first piece of apparatus on the scene and stretched a 1" ¾ hose line and attempted to make a push on the fire, but was forced to withdraw after a few minutes due to rapidly deteriorating conditions inside the house. Due to the heavy fire load throughout the split-level ranch-style home, Deputy Chief Farrone (8705) transmitted a general alarm, which added Companies 4 and 5 to the initial assignment. An exterior attack was implemented for a short period of time using two 1" ¾ hose lines were used to knockdown a bulk of the visible fire. Crews then resumed their interior attack to extinguish the remaining hot spots and perform extensive overhaul to gain access to the fire burning in the attic and crawlspaces.

The Port Washington Fire Department responded mutual aid as the F.A.S.T. with Rescue 8522, as well as Chief of Department Cole (8500), Assistant Chief Waterson (8502), and two ambulances. One firefighter and one civilian were transported by the Manhasset-Lakeville Ambulance Unit to local hospital with minor injuries. The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office was notified for an immediate investigation, and all units were released from the scene within two hours by Chief of Department Dillon (8701).
