PDP Condemns Suspension of Local Government Leaders

The Edo State House of Assembly has suspended 18 local government chairmen and their deputies, following a directive from Governor Monday Okpebholo. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned this action, labelling it unconstitutional and a violation of the rights of the affected officials, who were not given the opportunity to defend themselves. The PDP's Caretaker Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, highlighted that this suspension contradicts a ruling by Edo State’s Chief Judge and the Supreme Court's affirmation of local government autonomy.
