Includes discussion of explosive volcanic eruptions with tephra, ash, cinders, volcanic bombs, mud flows (lahars), and pyroclastic flows; gas clouds; acid rain; volcano sources including hotspots, mantle plumes, and flood basalts; pahoehoe vs. aa lavas, as found in Hawaiian eruptions; columnar jointing worldwide; and volcanic landforms of shield volcanoes, stratovolcanoes, domes, and cinder and pyroclastic cones.
