LONG GONE BKLYN ELS movie footage

Hosted by the late transit historian Roger Arcara this film takes a look at Brooklyn's once extensive EL System which operated in the NYC BOROS of Brooklyn & Queens. albeit forgotten & even unknown to many later generations. The Els touched on in this film include the Fulton ST. EL one half discontinued in 1940 and the rest of the 2nd outer Brooklyn portion in 1956. only the Queens section still operates today. The 5th Ave./ Bay Ridge EL discontinued in 1940, the Lexington Ave EL discontinued in 1950, and the Myrtle Ave. EL Adams St. section to Sand St & Park Row terminals eliminated all in 1944, and from Jay St. to the Broadway EL was discontinued in 1969. Only the portion of the Myrtle Ave. EL north of the Broadway EL still operates today
