Описание к видео How to change the Spark Plugs without the coil pack removal tool. 1.4 1.6 VW Audi Seat Skoda. Golf

In this video I demonstrate how to remove the coil packs without the special puller removal tool and replace the spark plugs in 10 minutes. Here I use a flat blade screwdriver. This is not the manufactures recommended method, so should only be used if absolutely necessary. Damage can occur to the coil packs if removed incorrectly. Caution also needs to be taken to not damage the wiring.

When replacing the spark plugs, always inspect the old plugs of unusual wear before fitting the new ones. New plugs should be inspected for any signs of damage before fitting. New plugs come with the gap already set, so it's not necessary to re-gap them unless you think they need to be checked or if one looks different to the others. Obviously there is no harm in checking the gap if you wish and should be done as best practice.

A torque wrench should be used to ensure the spark plugs are correctly tightened. under tightening could lead to misfires, low compression, lack of power or the plug could become completely loose. Over tightening could be worse, as you could damage the thread in the cylinder head. Modern vehicles have aluminium cylinder heads so can be damaged easily.

Most spark plugs, the tightening torque is between 20 - 30Nm. Always check the manufactures recommendation.
30Nm really isn't a lot, wheel bolts are generally around 120Nm +.. That's 4 times tighter...

This process will be applicable to Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles with the 1.4 and 1.6 engine between 2009 - 2016. This engine code was CGG 2013 MY VW Polo
