How do you build words for your constructed language?

Word building is one of the most important parts of language creation. Many languages are typically using word building to define the rules how the words are constructed. You can create words by typing randomly on your keyboard, by making prefixes or suffixes from random words or by learning new languages and using them as inspiration.

Aepsognian language is created by using prefixes that can add, modify or remove the meaning of a word. The prefixes are initial components that capitalize the main word in order to mark emphasis. You can create your own system of prefixes by defining what kinds of word do you want.

First of all, there are 24 letters in the Aepsognian alphabet, and every letter can be used as a prefix. You can create your own alphabet that will have different letters.

These are the main prefixes:

a - word introduction
b - word reference, connection
c - division factor
ç - confirmation (not included in video)
d - region, part of a word
e - contextual, multiply prefix
f - multiply prefix
g - quantity prefix
gh - addition prefix (add)
h - sentence introduction
i - subtract prefix
j - negation
l - position
m - number modifier
n - entire, all
o - preposition around prefix
p - second person
r - third person
s - one, single value
t - shape, color modifier
u - general context
v - first person
y - time prefix
z - time expression prefix

And for the diacritic vowels:

á - action word
é - emotion, feeling
í - action verb
ó - plural form
ú - many meanings: general, temporary, multiple, contextual, instruction, information etc.

The ç- prefix is not included because it primarily occurs in complex prefixes and does not contain any other purpose than to be used for word roots. It is only used in context of confirmation, which is the opposite of j- prefix.

Combining two prefixes forms a combined prefix. The combined prefix is written in lowercase letters.

úsc - general + single + division
úcs - general + division + single
ót - multiple + shape (quantity)
ío - action + preposition (verb)

Prefixes can have more than just one meaning. You can create your own prefixes by combining letters, so you can experiment in many ways when building a system for your conlang.
