Imphal (Manipur)Sep 12 (ANI): 'Thangjing' or fox nut in English and 'Makhana' in Hindi is a seasonal spiny herb of which, the fleshy leaves float on water surface with spines underneath. They are mostly found and grown in ponds, paddy fields, swamps and are known as a cash crop of Ox-bow lakes. It is a subtropical plant found in most of the Asian countries. Its cultivation is helping poor farmers of the state economically and most of them consider it as a God-gifted boon.
