20 kg Salmon Caught in River Bolstad

This video is from two fishing trips to the legendary River Bolstad in Vosso watercourse, one of the most famous Atlantic salmon rivers in the world.

After the collapse of Atlantic salmon in the end of 1980s, several "minor" measures have been conduced without success to reestablish the population. Now more than 30 year after the collapse, most of the main contributors affecting the poputlation already reported back in the days are still the same factors reported in recent reports. To me, this indicate that there there is no willingness by the government to take action to save the Atlantic salmon population in this legendary river.

Without willingness to make the necessary changes, I think the main reason we still have a small population of salmon in Voss watercourse, is because hatchery fish has being towed through and out the inner fjords before being relesed for a number of years after the collapse. With the partial closure of Voss Hatchery, I fear that this will be the end of salmon in this legendary river.
