The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California, USA. The park is named after Nisene Marks, a German immigrant who purchased land in the area in the late 1800s. The forest was originally used for logging by the Loma Prieta Lumber Company, which operated in the area from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

After the lumber company closed, the land was purchased by the Spreckels family, who used it for their private estate. In the 1950s, the Spreckels family donated the land to the state of California to be used as a park. The park was officially opened to the public in 1963.

Today, the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park is a popular destination for hikers, mountain bikers, and nature enthusiasts. The park covers over 10,000 acres and contains over 30 miles of trails. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of the Santa Cruz Mountains, towering redwood trees, and a variety of wildlife, including deer, raccoons, and birds. The park is also home to Aptos Creek, which provides a habitat for steelhead trout and coho salmon.
